Should You Go Organic on a Low-Histamine Diet?

Buying organic is thought to be healthier, tastier and better for the environment than non-organic foods, but does it help with histamine intolerance?

The organic food industry is booming as we’re all becoming more health-conscious.

So is it worth it when we are focusing on a low-histamine diet?

I love blueberries, and have them with everything. I keep them in the freezer where they provide refreshing snacks.⁣ I'm mildly obsessed with them I admit and even better, they’re green on our histamine food list.

Unfortunately, blueberries are something that it’s better to buy organic due to the pesticides that can accumulate on the skin. ⁣It’s shocking that more than 50 pesticides can be found in conventional blueberries.

So if you can pay a little extra, get some organic blueberries, put them in the freezer and pull out whenever you want a snack, or a blueberry smoothie.⁣⁣

According to Dr Tim Crowe, more research is still needed to confirm whether organic foods has a lot more nutrition than conventional foods. The nutritional content of the food also varies greatly depending on the region and time of year harvested etc. This is particularly important when it comes to histamine issues.

In terms of pesticides, organic foods have also been shown to contain less pesticide residue than conventional foods. When are you suffering from histamine intolerance, pesticides are definitely something to look out for.
