Is meditation the body's natural antihistamine?
I know how challenging it is when you are histamine intolerant and feeling low physically. I’m not claiming meditation is a miracle solution, but it may well help you to feel a little bit better, and I believe it can be an important histamine intolerance treatment tool for many.
The author Dan Harris wrote a book called 10% Happier. He believes meditation is not the answer to all his problems, but it makes him… well, 10% happier. I think this is an excellent way to think about your meditation practice and how it might aid your recovery.
Studies show meditation helps to induce physiological changes in the body that reduce stress and depression. (I know this already because I feel so different after just 10/20 minutes of meditation).
Medical experts such as Dr. Ben Lynch @drbenlynch tell us the importance of de-stressing and kicking in that parasympathetic nervous system to help us heal. And author Josh Waitzkin says;
“Depth beats breadth any day of the week, because it opens a channel for the intangible, unconscious, creative components of our hidden potential.”
and…
“We don't ultimately want to be meditating in a flower garden. We want to be able to meditate and have a meditative state throughout our life, in a hurricane, in a thunderstorm, when sharks are attacking you…”
Can you tell he is one of my favourite authors? Check out Dan Harris, Dr. Ben Lynch and Josh Waitzkin. All excellent on meditation, and The Art Of Learning is one of my favourite of all time.
Unfortunately, chronic stress and histamine intolerance often seem to go together.
